Day 1 Arrive Delhi
After an early morning arriva and time to freshen up, head out on a tour of Old Delhi this morning. You will visit the largest mosque in India, Jama Masjid and then the magnificent Red Fort, build by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. After time for lunch on your own, tour New Delhi including the 12th century Qutab Minar, gracefull hand-carved the full length of it's 234 feet. You will drive past the India Gate and the president's residence before returning to your hotel later this afternoon.
Day 2 Delhi-Agra | Meals: B
After a morning at leisure, depart by road for Agra, best known as the city of the Taj Mahal. Situated along the banks of the River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal is perhaps the most famous monument built as a tribute to love. The city of Agra grew in prominence under the rule of the Mughal Empire but reached its zenith under the aegis of Emperors Akbar, Shah Jahan and Jehangir. It was under the rule of Akbar that Agra become a leading centre of art, science, commerce and culture.
Day 3 Agra | Meals: B
This morning, visit the Agra Fort, the precursor to the Red Fort in Delhi. The high red stone monument stretches for around 1.5 miles, dominating a bend in the river Yamuna northwest of the Taj Mahal. Later visit the Taj Mahal, which is the seventh wonder of the world, built by Shah Jahan as a memorial to his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The great monument took almost 22 years to build and was completed in 1653. Around 20,000 workers from all over the country and central Asia were recruited to translate this dream into a reality.
Day 4 Agra-Samode | Meals: B
Depart by road to Fatehpur Sikri, about 24 miles from Agra. This was Emperor Akbar's capital which had to be abandoned after just fifteen years of occupation due to lack of potable water. Then continue on to Samode, where the remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 5 Samode-Jaipur | Meals: B
Samode is famous for its Samode Palace and Samode Bagh (Garden). Awarded by one of the Kachchwaha rulers of Amber to one of his twelve son's 4 ½ centuries ago, the palace became known for the high quality of its frescos, and particularly in the use of indigo colours. The morning is at leisure to explore and enjoy the surroundings. Later, continue by road to Jaipur.
Day 6 Jaipur | Meals: B
After breakfast, a ride on caparisoned elephants takes you to the entrance of the Amber Fort. a classic, romantic Rajasthani Fort Palace. On your way back, stop at Hawa Mahal - Palace of Winds for a brief stop for photographs. After lunch (on your own) visit the City Palace, the former residence of the royal family, a part of which is converted into a museum. Built in the style of a fortified campus, the palace covers almost one-seventh area of the old city. Later visit the Jantar Mantar, which is the largest stone and marble crafted observatory in the world.
Day 7 Jaipur-Jodhpur | Meals: B
This morning, visit Galta, a holy pilgrimage centre, having a temple dedicated to Sun God. Then transfer to the Railway station for the 5-hour ride to Jodhpur. Settled in 1459 by Rao Jodha, Jodhpur's broad streets and signature blue-white houses still have the feeling of days passed.
Day 8 Jodhpur | Meals: B
Your first stop this morning is at the impressive Mehrangarh Fort built by Rao Jodha in 1459. Later, enjoy a short walk through the local bazaar of Jodhpur.
Day 9 Jodhpur-Udaipur | Meals: B
Your drive takes you to Ranakpur, where you can see the amazing Jain temple complex built in 1439. Then continue to Udaipur. This evening, enjoy the fascinating Sound and Light Show at Manek Chowk in the City Palace Complex.
Day 10 Udaipur | Meals: B
Visit the City Palace, built in 1725, which houses the Dilkhush Mahal, Sheesh Mahal - studded with glittering Belgium Mirrors, Moti Mahal and the Palace of Lord Krishna all of which are ornately decorated.
Day 11 Udaipur-Delhi | Meals: B
After a leisurely morning, fly back to Delhi where day rooms will be available for freshening up before your transfer to the airport.
