Jambo! Welcome to Tanzania. Upon arrival this evening, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 Arusha-Lake Manyara | Meals: BLD
Following breakfast and your safari briefing this morning, meet your private driver-guide and leave Arusha, passing through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. At the town of Makuyuni turn North West and continue the journey through a scenic escarpment that brings you to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over Lake Manyara. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive.
It is difficult to imagine a more spectacular setting for Lake Manyara Serena Lodge - on the edge of the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment, overlooking the Great Rift Valley and the stunning Manyara soda lake. Tree-climbing lions are but one lure. The extraordinary birdlife has made this place world-renowned among ornithologists, who come to observe the masses of pink flamingos and great birds of prey.

Day 3 Lake Manyara-Ngorongoro | Meals: BLD
Enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. The park covers an area of 128 sq. miles of which about 89 sq. miles is the lake itself. You can always find hippo in the Simba River, elephant in the forests and a resident herd of Cape buffalo on the open plains at Mahali Pa Nyati, which means, 'the place of the buffalo' in Swahili.
Return to the lodge for lunch. Then, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and your lodge with spectacular views of the crater below. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.
As if in a land before time, Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is built into the rim of a dormant and collapsed volcano (known as a caldera), the plant and ivy-covered native stone blending masterfully with its surroundings. Day 4 Ngorongoro | Meals: BLD
After breakfast, descend into Ngorongoro Crater for an amazing day of game viewing. The crater is home to a wide variety of both herbivores and carnivores. Zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and eland are abundant. With such a rich food supply, carnivores like lion, hyenas and leopard are also at home in the crater. Watch for the kori bustard (the world's largest flying bird) to see if you can spot its elaborate territorial display during breeding season. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor and then continue exploring the distinct areas of the crater: forest, open grassland, swamps and lakes.

Day 5 Ngorongoro-Serengeti | Meals: BLD
Depart to Serengeti National Park. You stop at Olduvai Gorge en route where you have a chance to view the historic gorge where the Leakey family made several important archaeological discoveries including Australopithecus boisei. You also visit a small museum. Arrive at the lodge/camp for lunch. Following lunch and time to enjoy the lodge/camp's facilities, you have an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.The name Serengeti is derived from the Maasai word "siringet", which means endless plains. Appropriately named, every year the Serengeti plays host to perhaps the most impressive migration of herbivores found in the world. Game-viewing is exciting year-round, as the Big Cats are in abundance.

Scenically located in a glade guarded by 3 million year old granite towers, Mbuzi Mawe (meaning Klipspringer in English) makes maximum use of its unique wilderness location. There are al fresco breakfasts, safari luncheons, lantern-lit bush suppers, campfire roasts, and dance displays by the Ikoma people as well as game drives, ranger-led bush walks, ornithology and sightings of: elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, hyena, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, warthog, hippo and crocodile.
Unlike any other camp, Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp lies at the epicenter of the Serengeti within easy reach of the prime wildlife theatres of Lobo, the Western Corridor of the Grumeti River, the southern grass plains, the Seronera Valley and the kopjes, or inselbergs, of Barafu, Gol, Maasai, Loliondo, Simba and Moru.
The focal point of the camp is the central lounge - a place of light and air, with stunning views of the surrounding savannah. In the rear of the lounge, a cocktail bar is stocked with a wide selection of beers, wines and spirts and its decor blends the gnarled timbers of ancient dhows with champagne suede, claret chenille and amber weaves.

The Serengeti is famous for the big cats. Thanks to the large food supply provided by the plains game, the big cats are found in large numbers. Cheetahs love the kopjes as they provide excellent vantage points for spotting prey. If you are lucky you might spot the fringe-eared oryx or the shy klipspringer. Watch the rocks for the rock hyrax...the closest relative to the elephant! Bird lovers will be busy checking off species from their list. Look for the Ruppell's longtailed starling, Griffon vulture, kori bustard, ostrich and the colorful lilac-breasted roller - to name just a few. During your two full days, enjoy daily morning and afternoon game drives.
